CHESS
Competitive
Hospitality
Education
Simulation
Series
Learning about CHESS is the highlight of my day. This computer simulation is used to help us learn to develop effective business strategies to successfully run a 250-room hotel for 6 weeks. I will virtually experience many aspects of managing a hotel -- controlling customer bookings, determining associate wages, managing hotel sales and such. In order to finish this virtual simulation within a few class periods, each day is set to approximately 2-3 minutes (when we first start it will be around 10 minutes) so I will have to manage many different tasks within short periods of time. Efficiency is a key to the hotel industry, and in business in general, as Professor Marc McCarthy stated during our lecture and CHESS will help me develop better efficiency. I can't wait until we actually start working on CHESS. It will be fun!

Yueming,
ReplyDeleteI knew we sent you to Cornell for a reason: this is the second year we've been involved with this program and you were the first to tell us what the acronym CHESS stood for. I can now sleep well tonight.
I'm looking forward to reading about how this project works for you and your team.
