Rush hour traffic

Even though we had around 7 hours of office hours, working to finish our final group CHESS report felt like driving home in rush hour traffic. After a few hours, we came to realize just how much more we had to complete before we could call it a night. It wasn't that we were unproductive -- matter of fact, I felt more productive today than last time. There was just simply a lot of work to do.

Aside from the work, it was the last official day of class. Having only one light lecture today, the day zapped right past us. I do have comments regarding our lecture about behavioral styles but I will reserve them until a time when I can do them their justice. Right now, it is work work work.

Before Professor Mark and Reneta left the Bin Lab this afternoon, we all agreed to take a few quick photos to remember our last official day of class. Enjoy! [Props to my group mate Martha Glodz for taking the photos. She is also on a scholarship program from Detroit and her trip was also entirely paid for!]

  1. I love the photo. I am glad that we got to see the McCarthy's. They are very driven professors who have gotten the best out of you ladies. I am hopeful that you will come back to Hercules High School armed with new strategies and a new outlook on life. Now is the time to seek out your professors and get an honest assessment about how you performed in their class.

You also had a chance to see how you need to rely on others to get group assignments done. This experience over the last three weeeks has served you well. I am glad that you will have another year in the Ivy League Connection.

One final point is that I hope you speak with Martha and get as much information on her scholarship program. Our program wants to understand and find out what other communities are doing to support their students. The name of the program, how she learned about the program and what does the program require of her would be useful information as we continue to strengthen our efforts here in West County.

I know that you got a lot out of this program and I look forward to working with you soon. Enjoy the balance of your time in Ithaca because tomorrow you are headed home.

    Take care.

  3. Yueming,

You know we’re not going to let you slip away without reflecting on this personality profile and what part it played in your class.

Working under the gun can be both exhilarating, exhausting and frustrating as you keep an always mindful eye on the clock. In your mind you know what still has to be accomplished and every time you look at the clock your mind tells you that there isn’t enough time left.

I hope you and your team were successful, Yueming.

Thanks a lot for the photo. We’ve been reading about the McCarthy’s for so long and it’s nice to put a face with a name.
